OFDM, Technology Replacement Fiber Optic Speed 30.000Gbps


KDDI R & D Labs and National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT) Japan has created a technology trial that the optical transmission of OFDM in frequency to receive the data rate, high level. According to Nikkei, trial optic OFDM technology is capable of reaching speeds up to 30Tbps the distance range 240 km. KDDI will then plan to commercialize this technology optic OFDM at the beginning of the upcoming year 2012. Chance of technology will be used tele-medicine and other applications that require high bandwidth.


Optick OFDM technology is a research done by KDDI R & D Labs. "Orthgonal frequency division multiplex (OFDM) modulation format is developed as to handle if there is damage to the transmission system fiber-optic high-speed." Said KDDI R & D Labs. In a document published by the KDDI R & D Labs and NICT, OFDM system will increase the frequency utilization efficiency of optical transmission system with 7bps/Hz speed, about 30 percent higher than the ekseperimen been done in the same lab, with the frequency utilization efficiency of 5.6bps / Hz.


Still according to the same document, the frequency of zone is an important resource for communication system utilization zone as necessary so that data transmission can be efficient and fast. However, the frequency utilization efficiency of commercial optic transport system are only limited in speed 0.8bps/Hz.
