How A+ Training and Certification Can Help You

If you are looking for a recognised qualification to show your competency as a computer technician then the CompTIA A+ certification is one of the most widespread and best regarded qualifications there is in the area. It is the industry standard qualification and can help you become highly employable.

The qualification has been available since 1993 in four different versions: the 1993, 2003, 2006, and, most recently, the 2009 editions. The constant progress in the world of computers means that the qualifications need to be consistently re-evaluated and upgraded. While this can be frustrating to those already qualified, it does mean that the A+ certification remains relevant and has not become obsolete.

Courses for this qualification also provide a broad knowledge base. By training for the A+ certification, you are not learning about just one OS, as you would with the more specific Microsoft qualifications. This certification is vendor neutral, meaning that it qualifies you to work with not only Microsoft but also Apple and even Linux operating systems.

None of that tells you exactly what the certification gives you, though. The scope of the qualification is too great to be expanded on here in detail, but the areas covered by the A+ training and qualification range from the repair and installation of CPUs and hard drives, to computer security and also communication skills.

Although the 2006 qualification is still running, it is likely to be retired soon. This means that, currently, the 2009 certification is probably the best available choice to give you an up-to-date qualification for your CV.

The 2009 A+ certification is split into two separate exams, both computer based; one on the Essentials of an IT professional, the other a more practical, problem solving exam. This gives you the opportunity to demonstrate that you do not just have the knowledge, but also the understanding to apply that knowledge.

Training programs for the CompTIA A+ certification can be found easily online in several different formats. You can select DVD or online training or even a multi-user DVD course, so that more than one person can be trained for the qualification at a time.

If you are interested in A+ training then http://www.cvision.co.uk has computer based training options available for the 2009 certification. They also have a variety of other training courses available, if you find something else you would like to study.
